Shisei – Orginal Artwork
Shisei is a Japanese word for posture; the power held within a figure. That idea is what this piece is built around.
She’s covered in marks. Tags and graffiti I’ve collected over years of travel, the kind most people walk straight past. Each one means something to whoever put it there, but reads as noise to everyone else. I find that interesting. There’s a tension between the personal and the unreadable, and I wanted to put that directly onto a figure.
